Maj. Maria Kowalewska
Maj. Maria Kowalewska, born 1927. She was sworn into the National Armed Forces (NSZ) in March 1943. She adopted the codename Myszka (small mouse) and served as a liaison officer and nurse. During the uprising, she was assigned to the NSZ unit commanded by Florian Kuskowski, codename Szary (gray); she served as a nurse at an insurgent hospital in Wola. After the insurgency, she was sent to the Dulag transit camp in Pruszków, from where she managed to escape to Milanówek and then to Radom. She was the godmother of the banner of the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW).
